Large pores are caused by two things – genetics and age. As we get older, we lose the elasticity of our skin that holds these pores tight, and if your family has a history of open pores, it’s very likely you will too. Clogged skin also causes enlarged pores, and if not treated properly, will turn into spots and blemishes. But regardless of how you got them, there are a few things you can do to minimise their appearance. Use topical vitamin C products, exfoliating to loosen dead skin cells. If you have severely enlarged pores, seek the help of a dermatologist. For less serious cases, try products that reduce the size of your pores – it has to be moisturising, deep pore cleansing and not harsh to the skin.
