Held for the seventh time, Malaysia-International Fashion Week (M-IFW) was unveiled in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur where stylish who’s who of the fashion industry had gathered. The opening night of M-IFW 2009: Fall into style saw Fall/Winter 09/10 collections by MaxMara and Diane Von Furstenberg.
All eyes were set on stage throughout the night as slinky models paraded the collections one after the other. MaxMara collection saw a lot of thrown on woolly shawls and heavily thermal coats which would be lovely to wear in Russia but not in our climate; sad to say. The specially-flown in Diane Von Furstenberg’s pieces were pretty on the eyes and some did set our hearts aflutter, including a couple of party dresses (take a look at our gallery!).
The second day of M-IFW saw ten chosen designers who debut their collections before guests. Simply described as ’10 Rising Stars’, there was a mixture of hits and misses - we’ll leave it up to you if you agree with us. Our top picks are Jonathan Liang, who had 'America’s Next Top Model' Cycle 8 Winner Jaslene opening for him in his tough, edgy collection; Tengku Shami’s rock ‘n rolla pieces and Satheswaran’s military wear.
