There are many health risks for eating a diet that is high in fat; namely heart disease, diabetes and obesity. But the small things that we thought were harmless that we indulge in occasionally every day, could have a bigger short-term impact also.

Recent research has shown that rats that have been put on a high-fat diet after just nine days, were only able to exercise 50 per cent less than they were use too on a treadmill andmade mistakes in the maze tasks that they usually do, which scientists suggested that their cognitive capabilities were impaired.

The professor who was head of the research, Kieran Clarke, described the findings as amazing and that “it shows that high fat-feeding even over short periods of time can markedly affect mind and body.”

This may come as no surprise to many people but the researchers say it may well suggest that high-fat diets make humans lazy and stupid.
