Not only has the Nintendo Wii Plus become the first computer game to win approval from the Department of Health in the UK but it is a sure fun way to get yourself and children moving and exercising.
Fitness and exercise can be a boring for many people, and it can often be hard to find the right motivation to get ourselves to the gym. Well, how about something completely different? If you really can’t face leaving the house and making your way to the dreaded hall of treadmills, then how about exercising and getting fit using a wii?
Nintendo has certainly expanded their gaming horizon with the Wii and have attracted a completely different and broader audience when they introduced Wii Fit. Not only were many couch potatoes able to get off their backsides and exercise regularly, but also those who can’t afford a gym membership, or don’t have enough time to make to the gym after work. We look at the different fitness regimes the Wii offers and the wonderful benefits.
Wii is one way to get 30 minutes of exercise per day, as recommended by the American Heart Association. "If (you're) unable to do other exercises or get to the gym, this type of individualised computer program is a great way to do something physical," said Dr. Lacagnina, Medical Director of Lee Physician Group. "Anything that gets people off the couch and moving is a step in the right direction," he adds.
