This Thursday is World Health Day 2011 and the main goal for this year is to raise people’s awareness of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). According to the World Health Organization, AMR is when a microorganism becomes resistant to antimicrobial medicine. We take a closer look at what this means, how if affects us individually and worldwide and why it is a public health concern that needs awareness.
