Forget beauty pageants! It's that time of the year again for the Johnson’s® baby of the Year 2013 contest! Are you all ready for cuteness overload?

This year, the Johnson’s® baby of the Year contest marks its 21st anniversary of celebrating the cutest, healthiest and brightest babies. Touted as the most prestigious baby pageant in Malaysia, entries pour in every year from the entire nation for a shot at the esteemed Johnson’s® baby of the year title since the contest’s birth 21 years ago.

The grand finale of Johnson’s® baby of the Year 2013 contest saw 20 cutest, healthiest, and brightest contestants showcased their unique charm in a baby parade amidst encouraging cheers of supporting parents to vie for the crown today.

"It is the perfect platform for parents to share their bundle of joy with the world, because we understand how hard it is to contain our pride as our child grows to be the little person they are," said Miss Lynn Yeo, Associate Marketing Director of Johnson & Johnson Malaysia.

Other than showcasing cute and beautiful babies, what differentiates Johnson’s® baby of the Year from the rest of the other baby contests is its major criteria on health and development.  Babies who make it to the top are carefully evaluated by paediatricians to assess their health and development based on their respective age, up to 36-months old.  Judges also look for the special quality that sets one baby above the rest, such as a charming smile or a smart move.

The prizes were:

  • Winner: RM10, 000.00 cash prize, a chance of fame on the covers of parenting magazines, and a Johnson’s® baby hamper worth RM1, 000
  • First and second runner-up:RM5, 000.00 and RM3, 000.00 cash prizes, and Johnson’s® baby hampers worth RM500.00 and RM300.00 respectively
  • Each of the remaining 17 babies from the 20 finalists also received RM 500.00 cash prize, plus a hamper worth RM100.00. The contest has also added a whopping extra 100 consolation prizes of RM100.00 cash each.
