In a surprising interview with Oprah Winfrey during an episode of 'Oprah's Next Chapter', the famous socialite and TV personality not only talked about her life in the spotlight but also revealed a very personal piece of information- her mom, Kris Jenner had agreed to put Kim Kardashian on birth control at only 14 years old. Shocking? [More]
The idea of birth control is perhaps still very taboo amongst Malaysian parents. We'd all like to think that our daughters and sons just don't have sex at all until they get married. It may be the case but looking at the way society in general view abstinence, it's not surprising that the same care-free approach to sex becomes imprinted in the minds of the younger generation.
QUESTION for parents:
Would allowing your own child to be on birth control so openly translate as a form of encouragement to engage in pre-marital sex?
Or do you see it as a 'better safe than sorry' approach in terms of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)?
QUESTION for young adults:
Would you have preferred your parents being more open and honest with you about sex when you were younger?
Or are you completely fine with the way things are where parents continue to be in denial about you and your sex life?
